This course is designed for employees who are new to the cooperative and electric and utility accounting function. It provides a grounding in the uniform system of accounts (USOA) with special emphasis on those areas unique to electric distribution cooperatives.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received three weeks prior to the start of the workshop are fully refundable. Cancellations received two weeks prior to the start of the workshop will be issued a refund minus a $175 cancellation fee. Substitutions are accepted. Cancellations the week prior and no shows are responsible for paying the full registration fee.

COURSE INFORMATION

Course Description: The workshop will give participants a greater understanding of the overall accounting process and the cooperative business model. Topics covered include USOA, Work Order Accounting, Patronage Capital, Revenue and Tariffs. Also included will be a discussion of Form 7 and its relationship to and dependence on the USOA. 

Learning Objectives:
• Understand and recognize the unique elements of the cooperative business model. 
• Understand the overall accounting process necessary to account for and report results of financial transactions. 
• Understand the importance of the work order process to utility accounting. 
• Understand the relationship between the USOA and Form 7. 
• Prepare and understand Form 7 Part A Statement of Operations and Part C Balance Sheet.
