This high-level course covers basic disaster accounting documentation requirements, processes, and procedures as well as cost tracking. It should assist jurisdiction personnel with implementing appropriate processes and procedures for the entire disaster timeline prior to a disaster taking place to help maximize reimbursement potential. This course includes live, instructor-led presentations, interactive breakout sessions and a disaster documentation simulation. Upon completing this course, the student will be able to:
- Locate and explain federal, state and local regulations concerning purchasing, payroll and cost tracking before, during and after emergencies.
- Explain common terms in their own words.
- Discuss documentation requirements, processes and procedures including cost tracking, cost documentation and document retention.
- Illustrate preparedness for audits of federal grant funds.
