COURSE INFORMATION

Course Description

This course provides an introduction to electrical theory; a basic overview of distribution system apparatuses and their function; proper voltage and rotation checks and use of a multimeter; the basics of pole framing and size and wire types and sizes; the fundamentals of personal protective equipment; instruction on knot tying and rope splicing; and information on hazards associated with energized electrical circuits.

Course begins at 8 a.m., Tuesday, May 13 and ends at noon, Friday, May 16

Section 1: Electrical Theory

Section 2: Multimeters—How To Use Them

Section 3: Apparatuses—Reclosers, Fuses, Sectionalizers, Transformers, Regulators, Capacitors and Meters

Section 4: Hazardous Conditions on Electric Circuits

Section 5: Basic PPE and Safety Context

Section 6: Poles

Section 7: Wire and Cable

Section 8: Ropes

Each participant should bring

Knife to cut rope     Work gloves

Registration cancelation policy: All changes or cancelations must be made by email to tknipstein@texas-ec.org. No refunds will be issued for cancelations made fewer than 15 days before the event. Cancelations made more than 15 days before the event will receive a full refund, minus a $50 charge per student or substitution.
