COURSE INFORMATION
Course Description
This course teaches the fundamentals of electricity and electrical theory as it applies to electrical metering. Participants discuss AMI metering and gain the knowledge and skills required to safely design, construct, install and troubleshoot electrical metering systems, ranging from single-phase, self-contained installations to three-phase instrument metering installations. The course also covers AMR and primary metering operations. In this course, participants complete problem-solving exercises, hands-on meter connections and troubleshooting exercises through classroom and field instruction.
Each participant should bring
Hardhat - Voltmeter - Safety glasses - Hand tools
Long-sleeved ARC-rated shirts - Rubber gloves
Course Prerequisites
Participant should have at least one year of line crew construction, maintenance and/or service crew experience. The course is not recommended for meter technicians.

Course begins at 8 a.m., Tuesday, May 7 and ends at noon, Friday, May 10.

32 hours (3.20 CEUs) A South Plains College certificate will be mailed to participants who complete this course and pay the $10 fee.
Registration cancelation policy: All changes or cancelations must be made by email to tknipstein@texas-ec.org. No refunds will be issued for cancelations made fewer than 15 days before the event. Cancelations made more than 15 days before the event will receive a full refund, minus a $50 charge per student or substitution.
