Due to the technological advances in the smart grid, electric utilities now possess the tools necessary to manage demand-side energy consumption. To ensure the sustainability of demand-side management models, utilities must consider a myriad of factors including the electric generation market, the power system configuration, smart grid components on the system, and distributed generation.
